Friday, May 3

  • Claremont Lewis Museum of Art, 200 W. First St., opens “The Great Perfection: Charles Long & Khang Bảo Nguyễn,” at noon today. Admission is free every Friday and $5 on weekends. A 5 p.m. member preview will be held Saturday before opening to the public during the 6 to 9 p.m. Claremont Art Walk. CLMA is open from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.   • Celebrate Día de los Niños, or Children’s Day, at the Claremont Helen Renwick Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave., with a free 2:30 p.m. DIY book makingcraft hour. Go tovisit.lacountylibrary.org for more info.

Saturday, May 4

  • Helpoversee Special Olympics training at the Claremont High School track, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont, Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. through June 1. Special needs athletes are also welcome. Practices are held ahead of the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games at California State University, Long Beach, June 8 and 9.   • The Joslyn Center’s free 3 to 4:30 p.m.knitting with care group invites all to make nine-inch squares at 660 N. Mountain Ave., Claremont, each Tuesday through May 28. The squares will be sewn together to make blankets for nonprofit Inland Valley Hope Partners. Participants should bring their own needles, crochet hooks, and yarn.Questions?
